Scrum Master
Location: Blackpool, Skipton, Manchester (Hybrid)
Department: Project Delivery
Reports to: Transformation Director
Role Overview:
As a Scrum Master at Perch Group, you will be instrumental in embedding Agile best practices within the organisation, reporting to the Transformation Director to drive delivery transformation.
You will be responsible for facilitating Agile practices within cross-functional teams, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of business-critical projects. You will champion Agile values and principles, fostering a culture of continuous improvement while working closely with Business Owners, Business Analysts, Developers, Testers, and other stakeholders.
The role is hybrid, with the opportunity to work from the Blackpool, Skipton, and Manchester offices. The successful candidate will have experience in financial services or a similar regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Current State Assessment & Agile Implementation:
- Assess the current state of Change Management Framework and identify gaps in efficiency, collaboration, and alignment with Agile principles.
- Recommend and implement Agile methodologies tailored to the organisation’s needs.
- Develop and drive Agile adoption strategies to improve delivery outcomes and team performance.
Agile Facilitation:
- Guide and coach Agile teams on Scrum, Kanban, and other Agile frameworks, ensuring adherence to best practices.
- Facilitate key Agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Encourage collaboration, self-organisation, and accountability within teams.
Delivery Support:
- Work closely with the Transformation Director to align Agile teams with broader business objectives and project deliverables.
- Support teams in breaking down work into manageable increments to enhance delivery efficiency.
- Identify and remove impediments that hinder the team’s progress, escalating issues where necessary.
Continuous Improvement:
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within teams, promoting Agile maturity.
- Measure team performance using Agile metrics such as velocity, cycle time, and lead time, using insights to drive improvements.
- Encourage feedback loops and adapt Agile practices to the evolving needs of the business.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Collaborate with Business Owners and Business Analysts to ensure well-defined and prioritised backlogs that align with business objectives.
- Support stakeholder engagement by providing visibility into team progress, risks, and dependencies.
- Advocate for Agile principles across the organisation, influencing leadership and teams on best practices.
Risk & Issue Management:
- Work with the Transformation Director to proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks that could impact project delivery.
- Ensure dependencies across teams and projects are well-managed within Agile frameworks.
Required Skills and Experience:
Agile Expertise:
- Proven experience as a Scrum Master in an Agile environment, preferably within financial services or a regulated industry.
- Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies, including Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, and Lean principles.
- Experience in coaching teams and embedding Agile best practices at different levels of maturity.
Facilitation & Leadership:
- Excellent facilitation skills with the ability to drive effective discussions and conflict resolution.
- Strong leadership qualities, fostering an inclusive and high-performing team culture.
- Ability to navigate complex environments and manage multiple Agile teams.
Delivery & Problem-Solving:
- Experience working with Agile delivery frameworks in alignment with traditional project management approaches.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to remove blockers and drive resolution of issues.
- Knowledge of Agile metrics and how to use them to drive performance improvements.
Stakeholder Management:
- Ability to build strong relationships with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills to drive Agile adoption across the organisation.
Qualifications:
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), SAFe Scrum Master, or equivalent Agile certification.
- Experience with Agile tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOps, or equivalent.
- Additional certifications in Agile coaching or SAFe methodologies are desirable.
